The final update (0.12) to the Beta is now online. All changes are highlighted in red.
This is the last major update to the rules before the studio begins the process of rewriting the material and laying it out for publication alongside all sorts of maps, diagrams and background material.
Updates include:
Revised Line of Sight rules. Line of Sight is now measured from the centre of a model. Aerial and Submerged units now interact with terrain differently.
Several rules have been reworded and clarified to make them clearer.
Levels of Disorder are now slightly more punishing.
Reserves have been clarified and play differently in the first turn.
Going into Full Reverse now causes disorder.
Ramming distance bonus has been limited so Size 1 ships are less like cruise missiles...
Critical Hits now all cause a Disorder amongst other effects.
Unexpected Arrival is more limiting on Movement.
Storm Generators have been reworked.
Gun Batteries (in their various forms) have been reworked top be less effective at Point Blank but more so at longer distances.
Unit Cards have been updated across the fleets and factions. Points changes for several units (including the Ice Maiden).
Submerged and Aerial Defences have been made slightly clearer on the cards with an above and below waterline graphic.
Outfitting Cards should be updated next week.
Despite the Beta now being at an end, we still welcome further feedback on all these points and any others through the usual portal.
Third Edition has evolved largely thanks to the superb feedback and play-testing from this community. We hope it will prove to be the game you all deserve.
